Merit (action based) is different and applies to individuals not groups of persons. We cannot place the guilt of some upon the whole race. Personal safety is a legitimate concern but even then I cannot employ racist defense mechanisms. Prudence allows me to avoid suspicious looking circumstances or persons who appear or seem to be dangerous HOWEVER, the color of their skin CANNOT be the source of fear.Black Birettahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08758160681203816829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36562133.post-70404099099371187282013-04-16T08:29:01.450-05:002013-04-16T08:29:01.450-05:00I could be wrong. I don't think it is sinful ...I could be wrong. I don't think it is sinful to avoid going to a line based on a clerk's race. If a particular group has overwhelming empirical characteristics, I don't see how wanting to avoid that is sinful. You can be politically correct and pretend not to notice patterns, but we have that ability as a survival mechanism. Why is is not sinful to want to go to someone's line because you like the way they look, but then it is sinful if you avoid another's line because of the vast amount of negative accumulated experience with the other's race in general?

Would you think it was also sinful to make judgements based on race where your safety is concerned?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
