CCC Prayer for Clergy

O Sacred Heart of Jesus the High Priest, you have chosen me for your service as a member of the clergy of your Catholic Church. I ask you through the intercession of the Holy Queen of the Clergy, St. John Vianney, Blessed John Paul the Great, and all the Angels and Saints, to keep me faithful to my calling.

May I always celebrate the Holy Eucharist, other Sacraments and the Liturgy of the Hours with great love and devotion; may I always practice and defend the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Faith against the enemies of religion; may I always practice charity towards my neighbors especially the poor, the young and the sick.

Give me the strength to carry out this resolve, forgetful of myself, learning from your Gospel a spirit of generous Christian devotion, striving to promote God’s Glory, the world’s peace, and all that may benefit your Catholic Church. Grant strength to the sick and infirm members and eternal rest to the deceased members of this Confraternity, AMEN

This prayer is said daily by priests and deacons of the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy. On this Feast of Saint John Vianney, Patron Saint of Parish Priests, please pray for your parish clergy and URGE them, REMIND them and if possible SUPPORT them in their ongoing spiritual, theological, pastoral and human formation. Their holiness will directly affect yours and vice versa.
