wow. SO majestic.
'Course, being the daughter and wife of Knights of Columbus, I said, "YAY, KNIGHTS!" when I saw them leading the procession. :)
The Mass at the Shrine reminded me of the spectacular Masses we had in Rome this past January for the international clergy conference. The American CCC (Confraternity of Catholic Clergy) and the Australian CCC jointly sponsored our first global get-together and inaugerated the formation of CCC in Ireland, Scotland and Great Britain. (see January 2010 postings in this blog)
We had a solemn high Pontifical Mass with Cardinal Hoyos, Cardinal CaƱizares Llovera, Archbishop Burke and Archbishop DiNoia. One day was Ordinary Form, the other was Extraordinary Form. Vespers were done in both forms as well.
The EF was celebrated at Saint John Lateran Basilica. We had about 80 priests in choir.
Nonetheless, seeing the Basilica in DC full to the brim in the pews with many of the faithful was most edifying. So many young families, children, teenagers, young adults as well as middle aged and elderly.
BRAVO to everyone who planned and coordinated the Mass.
